PENNINGTON GAP, VA BOTTLING COMPANIES

Pennington Gap is a small town in Lee County just a few miles from St. Charles, VA. The town has a rail road running through it so there is no surprise that a bottling company or two sprang up in the town. In fact so far I have round evidence for two bottlers. One is an Orange Crush Bottling Company which seems to have been an existing bottling company in St. Charles, VA owned by a G. W. Barker, and moved to Pennington gap around 1923. The second places it’s first advertisement in the Powell Valley News in the waning months of 1946, and is called the Lime Cola Bottling Company. There may be more bottling companies which rear their head in this community, and as I find them you will find them here.
